Our special editions
Die Winzeredition No. 6 erscheint vor der No. 5, da die Reifung der No. 5 noch nicht abgeschlossen ist. Um dem hohen Qualitätsanspruch an unsere Whiskys gerecht zu werden, haben unser Brennmeister und unser Geschmackverantwortlicher entschieden, die No. 5 noch weiter im Fass reifen zu lassen und die Vorstellung der No. 6 vorzuziehen, da hier bereits die nötige Reife erreicht ist. Die Vorstellung der Winzeredition No. 5 ist für September 2024 geplant.

The DDV media group, selected Saxon winegrowers along the Saxon Wine Route and the Dresdner Whisky Manufaktur have realised a joint idea. Together they create whiskies that could not be more regional.
Seven winegrowers along the Saxon Wine Route each provide two of their best casks for the post-maturing of the HELLINGER 42 single malt whisky. This results in unique whiskies that reflect the regional diversity of Saxony.
Das Weingut Jan Ulrich ist ein junges, in der ersten Generation, familiengeführtes Weingut, das erst 1992 gegründet wurde. Das Weingut befindet sich nur wenige Kilometer elbabwärts von der Porzellanstadt Meißen in Nünchritz, OT Diesbar-Seußlitz.
Das Weingut ist bekannt dafür, eine Reihe pilzwiderstandsfähiger Sorten anzubauen, und leistet somit einen wichtigen Beitrag zum Umweltschutz. Durch Vergrößerung der Weinbergsflächen kann sich das Weingut mit einer großen Sortenvielfalt präsentieren. So gehören Weine aus traditionellen Rebsorten wie Kerner, Goldriesling, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder und Dornfelder, aber auch moderne Sorten, wie Cabernet blanc, Souvignier gris, Solaris und Johanniter zum Portfolio.
Für die Fassnachreifung der Winzeredition No. 6 hat das Weingut Jan Ulrich zwei Cabernet-Blanc-Fässer zur Verfügung gestellt.

The HELLINGER 42 edition "WEIßE FLOTTE SACHSEN - PD Dresden" was refined on board this ship in specially produced German oak casks. Prior to this, the whisky matured for several years in bourbon casks. Both the movement of the ship and the constant change in ambient temperature lead to an intensive development of the flavours. The special climate of the Elbe Valley and Saxon Switzerland also influence the flavour of the whisky.
Here, the casks were stored upright for several months. The change in weather and the movement of the ships caused the whisky to mature more quickly in the casks. Dresden, the Elbe and Saxon Switzerland have also influenced the character of the whisky.
Tastinnotes:
Nose: A delicate vanilla note underlines the flavour of glazed mandarins, raspberry and light citrus zest. In contrast, there is a spiciness of pink pepper and tamarind with a clear but not overpowering flavour of oak.
Palate: The sweetness and mellowness of the first sip are quickly taken over by the spiciness and wood. Then tangerine and raspberry come back and form a great contrast to the wood.
Summary An interesting whisky with slight rough edges. The interplay of sweetness and spiciness continues for a long time in the mouth and the distinct wood flavours give it a long finish.

HELLDOG
At HELLINGER the dogs are loose!!!

We are not talking about the two plotthounds of our master distiller Jörg Hans.
Rather, one thousand were let loose in the Dresden Whisky Manufactory. HELLINGER's New Make, or White Dog, is bottled in 500 ml bottles and has an alcohol content of 63.5% vol. Our HELLDOG is limited to 1,000 bottles. Fresh from our stills, it has been bottled and is now available in our visitor centre and online shop.
The Craft Spirits Berlin Awards 2024 honours our HELLDOG with silver. This is the third time our HELLDOG has been honoured. After a gold medal at the International Spirit Challenge 2023 in London and four glasses (national top) for distillates in Gault Millau, our HELLDOG has now been honoured for the third time.

Als große Dynamo-Fans haben Frank Leichsenring und Thomas Michalski sich vorgenommen, eine Sonderedition zum 70. Vereinsgeburtstag der Sportgemeinschaft herauszubringen. Monatelang haben sie in ihrer Brennerei an der idealen Rezeptur gefeilt, bis alles perfekt war. Das Ergebnis ist eine Kombination aus einer Ex-Bourbon-Fass-Vollreifung mit anschließender Rioja-Fass-Veredlung und Anteilen einer Sherry-Fass-Veredlung.

Nase: malzig, würzig, beerige, rosinige Noten, Orangenmarmelade mit Limetten-Zesten, florale Fruchtnoten

For the opening of the manufactory on 7 April 2022, the two founders of the manufactory, Frank Leichsenring and Thomas Michalski, have come up with something very special. The Edition 42 Pur presents the Manufactory's claim to taste and quality in a very unusual way.
The edition is composed of single malt whiskies from a port wine cask, a sherry cask and a Rioja cask. Thomas Michalski, responsible for taste at the Dresdner Whisky Manufaktur, paid special attention to the unique olfactory and taste experience in the nose and on the tongue.
What is unusual about the 42 Pur Edition is its appearance. The typical HELLINGER 42 bottle comes without a label in an oak box. All the details and the drawing on the label have been engraved by hand on the glass. The wooden box itself is made from one piece of oak wood and is only finished to the bare minimum. A unique piece and as pure as possible.

The founding fathers of the Dresden Whisky Manufactory, Frank Leichsenring and Thomas Michalski, have brought their vision of their own whisky distillery to life. To mark the opening of the visitor centre, the Dresdner Whisky Manufaktur is presenting the GRÜNDERVÄTER edition. GründerVäter-Edition vor.
This whisky, which is very complex in its aroma spectrum, reflects the decades-old friendship of the two founders in a special way. The GRÜNDERVÄTER-Edition was composed of single malt whiskies from one distillery that were stored in four different oak casks. GründerVäter-Edition aus in vier verschiedenen Eichenfässern gelagerten Single Malt Whiskys einer Brennerei.
All the whiskies involved were first stored in ex-bourbon casks, first fill, before being transferred to the next casks for further maturation. Thomas Michalski, responsible for taste at Dresdner Whisky Manufaktur, and master distiller Jörg Hans constantly followed the development of the aroma and character of the whiskies involved. The GRÜNDERVÄTER is composed of single malts from a cognac cask, a port wine cask, a sherry cask and a smoked whisky aged in a sherry cask. The result is a particularly complex and multi-layered taste. GründerVäter wird aus Single Malts aus einem Cognac-Fass, einem Portwein-Fass, einem Sherry-Fass und aus einem im Sherry-Fass nachgelagerten Rauchwhisky komponiert. So entstand ein besonders komplexer und vielschichtiger Geschmack.

It is particularly pleasant that the smoke flavours are not too dominant and thus leave room for many other flavours to express themselves." says Julia Nourney (Spirit Judge for IWSC and ADI) in her tasting note on the Founding Fathers of the Dresdner Whisky Manufaktur.
The GründerVäter is delivered in a wooden box specially developed for it.

Martin Kesici - rock singer, presenter, actor - has a special bond with HELLINGER 42. He came to Dresden as a song singer of the music band HELLINGER. HELLINGER, the music band, was founded many years before the Dresden Whisky Manufactory by Frank Leichsenring.
The first special edition of the Dresdner Whisky Manufaktur is the Edition Martin Kesici. HELLINGER 42 Single Malt Whisky was finished in an Ecuadorian rum barrel. This gives the Edition Martin Kesici exotic notes and the slight sweetness of rum in addition to the typical HELLINGER 42 aromas.
All bottles of the Edition Martin Kesici were personally labelled and signed by hand. This makes each bottle unique.
